Curvaceous Crystal Renn Breaks Out of Being Thin
"All women bring something different to the table and we have to appreciate them
all." This from the once skinny ramp model, the now full-figured Crystal Renn. September 2009 finds the launching
of the celebrity’s book Hungry: A Young Model's Story of Appetite, Ambition and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves,
where she tells of her experiences as a model, her struggles for thinness, and her ultimate victory as a
full-figured goddess of fashion.
The plus size celebrity went into the project of publishing her book in the hopes
of reaching out to all women further than any of her magazine appearances can. “I also wanted to talk about body
acceptance and help women feel empowered.” Hopefully this, too, will cause a new development in the
trend.
Curvy Crystal Renn thinks that the evolution of change in the fashion industry’s
concept of beauty depends on how a woman wants to see herself. She explains, “A hundred years ago, heavier women
were more ideal and now it's a size 0. I think it's a cycle and I think that women want to see themselves in the
pictures—they want to see their size, color and height. I think if that happens, it'll make women feel more
empowered and they'll love themselves more.”
