In a mid-2007 episode of Dancing with the Stars, female boxer Laila Ali displayed her full-figured physique while performing a rumba with a partner, despite not having had previous dancing experience. She came in third place, and proved that even women celebrities who are strong can still be feminine.

Now there is another unusual award for an unusual celebrity. The “Diamond In the RAW Foundation”, a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles whose mission is to aid at-risk teen girls in developing careers in the entertainment industry, has announced The Stuntwomen’s Awards 2009 honorees, one of them being the curvaceous boxer Laila Ali. The award isn’t unusual in itself only that it credits the celebrity for being unusual, and the plus size boxer has expressed her excitement at being a role model for the organization. “Laila is honored to be offered the 2009 Diamond in the Raw Dare2bDifferent Award,” her manager is quoted as saying.
