Melinda Doolittle has something else that’s plus sized: her heart. The curvy celebrity has proven that she is not your ordinary American Idol Alum who afterwards just went on her way to make beautiful soul music. She is, in fact, one beautiful generous soul.

The zaftig singer has actually been busy doing charitable work and being an overall good citizen. A percentage of the sales of her debut album (which came out early this year) is the source of contributions to the Malaria No More, a non-profit organization that aims to end malaria deaths in Africa. Recently she visited Union Public Schools and shared her experiences with other kids. To the pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students at McAuliffe, she encourages them to "Go for that dream you have way down deep in your heart." Her dream, after all, has come true.
